| The ultimate goal of The Gifted Healing Center is to
provide a welcoming environment for African-Americans, as well as
others, afflicted with addiction where they can escape stigmatization
and find the path to recovery and health. African-American spirituality
and community is the core of TGHC's approach to promoting recovery.
While TGHC does not require church attendance or adherence to a specific
creed, the infusion of spirituality provides the basis for our recovery
process just as it does in traditional 12-step programs. TGHC offers
a residential recovery program and a transitional housing program.
More information about these programs can be found on our Facilities
page. |

TGHC's other programs give the agency substantial presence and
credibility in Sacramento's African-American community. Specifically
TGHC:
- Through an Outreach Worker, provides intakes, referrals to health
services and case management for individuals at risk for HIV infection,
particularly as a result of injecting drugs.
- Facilitates a weekly spiritual 12-step recovery group meeting.
- In collaboration with Sacramento Cottage Housing, conducts a
12-step group at their transitional housing facility.

TGHC Staff at an UP2ME Youth Rally |
TGHC also conducts alcohol, tobacco and
other drug prevention services, targeting families in the Meadowview
and Oak Park communities. Specifically TGHC:
- Conducts prevention workshops and prevention activities for
youth in Sacramento County.
- Coordinates an annual event called UP2ME, a Drug and Alcohol
Prevention Youth Rally. The purpose of the UP2ME rally is to inspire
youth to live a drug free lifestyle and make positive choices
for their future.
